Vintage/Antique Wooden Dove-Tailed Ballot Box with Handle

This was a living estate sale find and this is what I know: older piece, not sure if it’s old enough to be considered antique, but definitely vintage, it is a ballot box that marbles were used for the voting, it is wooden, not sure on the kind of wood, the joints are dove-tailed, it has a handle, older hardware ( hinges & screws), no maker’s marks and no idea where it was used, but the wear shows it was used. The sweet older lady had a marble in it, I’m pretty sure the marble isn’t original. I think back in the day, they were either clay or black & white, just not sure. She sold it with 2 wooden gavels that she said were used at a courthouse. The gavels are being sold separately. The whole box  is 9.25” x 5.75” and handle measures 5.25” long. The inside box where the marbles were dropped in measures 5.5” x 3.5”
