Description

Offered here is a stellar Holocystites scutellus cystoid from the Osgood formation of Franklin county, Indiana. The label had it listed as being from Massie shale which is formerly the upper Osgood shale. To my knowledge the cystoids are typically found in the lower shale so I'm using the blanket "osgood formation" to cover any ambiguity here. This cystoid is well inflated and measures at 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) long. All the plates show nice sculpturing and are clearly visible.
