    Description

    This is a very nice
    PADAUK
    (Pterocarpus soyauxii)
    back and side set for building an acoustic guitar.
    This an excellent tonewood with beautiful deep red color, which darkens some over time, and fine, consistent, straight grain.
    This is a fairly heavy, dense wood, with strong well balanced tone.
    Loud, ringing taptone with nice sustain.
    Very much like some of the rosewoods, but heavier and harder than Indian rosewood.
    Bends without  much difficulty and finishes nicely.
    The measurements are as follows: back boards (each half)  8.5" x 21.5" x .130+"thick. The sides- 5" x 32.5" x 130+".
