Description
Fast and easy fret crowning and polishing at the same time tool. Yes crown and polish at the same time in the matter of 10 minutes. Anyone can use this tool, no skills required. Can be used on guitars basses mandolins banjos any fretted instrument. Makes stainless steel frets unbelievably easy. I have had over 10K guitars go through my hands and I level, crown and polish every one. I have tried every tool possible. And after D.Drew guitars came up with this tool.By far the fastest, easiest, safest and most consistent fret tool. The results are perfectly formed crowned and polished frets everytime. Perfect for Banjos and mandolins with a flat fret board, it keeps the frets completely flat from side to side unlike a file. No matter how good you are keeping your file flat. Designed to be able to get to the last fret on a banjo. Crowns even the last, close together frets on a mandolin. Inlay safe and sands and smooths fret board. This tool will never wear out. It's made from Douglas Fir and steel rods. That are mounted past the center point preventing it's self from working loose. I seal the wood with three coats of laquer. Very comfortable to use and hold. All three steps are done at the same time and in minutes. I am talking 10 not 60.Files take time and skill and then you still have to check with a rocker tool. And then you still must polish them. All time consuming and hard on your hands. Files can slip off the frets and create deep scratches in the fretboard or you can hit the guitar body creating damage. Files wear out and are very costly.
Simply remove strings and level, remove filing dust.
Cut supplied sanding pads in half. Using one of the halves place the 120 grit sanding pad on the leveled frets, place tool on top with steel rods down fold up the sides of the pad to hold on to it and move back and forth on the fretboard over the frets starting at one end. Following the radius across the neck moving down the neck. Rotate off the side just enough to hit the bevel on the ends of the frets. Usually 2-3 times going from end to end is enough. Repeat with all four grits starting with 120 grit. Enough to do 4-5 necks. Wipe of dust in between grits. Clean fretboard with denatured alcohol or Windex, buff with clean cloth and apply oil. Fret board, mineral, or furniture oil. And that's it, that's all it takes. This also sands and smooths the fretboard at the same time. If you have a maple fretboard this does not apply you must tape it off first.
Approximate measurements 21/2 * 1 1/2 * 1 in. and 2 -5/16th steel rods. Can be made with any choice of wood at your request.
Includes a free 6" fret leveling block ready to use with 220 grit sandpaper attached.
