Description
This is a No Date (1984) Central Bank of Belize Five Dollar 24K Gold Bank Note issued from The Collector's Series, as "The First Gold Bank Notes of Belize".
This Note was stamped from paper bonded with Gold Foil. This Note features the Hibiscus plant on the front. The back has the image of Queen Elizabeth II along with the ruins of Altun Ha. This note comes with a 9" by 10 1/2" Presentation Card that has an attached protective sleeve for display.
The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money Lists this note as Pick # CS1 (Collector Series 1). The Bank of Belize use to exchange these notes for paper money if desired, (stamped "Legal Tender in Belize"), but according to the Catalog of World Paper Money; "The Central Bank of Belize will no longer exchange these notes for regular currency. (It is illegal to export the currency afterwards). Value is speculative.
